Your Neighborhood Music School
We foster your success through one-on-one coaching tailored to you and your needs, supported by group Master Classes and frequent performance opportunities.
Founded by voice teacher Katherine Lanagan as a home studio in Columbia Heights, Cardon Studios has grown from one teacher and a handful of students to a fully operational music school providing both private lessons and group classes. Though Cardon Studios has outgrown Katherine’s living room, and now occupies a beautiful space in Petworth/Park View, the foundations are the same. Guided by Katherine’s original vision of individualized instruction on a small number of highly specialized topics, Cardon Studios maintains a focus on only Voice, Piano, and Guitar. Katherine aims to cultivate a unique music education environment: one that combines the very best of working with a private teacher with the perks of being part of a larger community.
Cardon Studios is a small, independently owned, neighborhood studio that strives to connect personally and help each student find the best way to fulfill their need for musical expression in whatever style of music they feel most drawn toward. Come experience the benefits of one-on-one instruction while enjoying the warm environment of a community of musical peers.
Lessons are tailored to you and what you hope to achieve. I have grown leaps and bounds in a short amount of time... I have also been complimented by many friends about how much my singing has improved!
I had some music training before so I wanted to brush up my skills. My instructor keeps me motivated and I always leave with something new to work on. Most importantly, I can see improvement in my skills!
I wanted to work on singing rock & roll, and even though both teachers [I work with] are primarily classically trained, they have no trouble applying what they know to help me as a rock singer.
What a find: a warmhearted and truly generous teacher! No egos here, only a wonderful and satisfying learning experience.
My teacher definitely pushes me-- we never have a lazy moment in our lessons. She is cheerfully determined to break my bad habits, invests a lot of energy into her students, and seems to get genuine pleasure out of being a teacher.
I've really enjoyed these lessons. Working with a great teacher, I've surpassed my goals and expectations going into this.
